This month’s collection may be a mixed bag of the best new sites released in the previous four weeks, but if you look carefully you will see specific themes emerge. Full – page images and videos are back for revenge, and designers are embracing large – scale typography inspired by the 20th century from Art Nouveau to the corporate ’80s.
Here are the sites that caught us this month. Enjoy!
I killed a cactus
I Killed a Cactus is a beautifully rendered 3D site that guides those of us less prone to horticulture on the best ways to care for our houseplants.
Hotel Aris
After a few years of restricted travel, we are horrified to move again, and this elegant location for the Aris Hotel is heading towards Crete.
Emergency Journal
With excellent writing and photography, Emergence Magazine is dedicated to stories that combine ecology and spirituality. Her bold typography reflects her ethos.
Milton Textiles
Milton is a textile manufacturer with an eye for design. The site showcases its art-inspired collection with large, bold, colorful photography.
Brutally Human
Brutally Human is the one – page portfolio of designer Stanley Vaganov. It has an impressive client list, and its location reflects the confidence that comes with that.
MAAP
MAAP uses a billing flag to draw your attention as soon as you land on the site. The whole site is clean, efficient, and cool; exactly what you would expect from a cycling clothing company.
Diabla
Outdoor furniture is usually presented as minimalist and sophisticated. Diabla throws surrealism into the mix by introducing brand colors into his large-scale photography.
Steffie de Leeuw
The site is heavily typographed by designer and artist Steffie de Leeuw who appears to be intertwined through layers of intricate illustrations.
Garden Eight
What could be better than a gag of Garden Eight 3D-made cartoon creatures floating around a page, twisting and changing new shapes?
Shanghai Circus
The site for Shanghai Circus uses a rich mid – century diagram to refer to the solar system and the Chinese flag; it’s a catch mix.
Muoi
Ever inventive, the new microsite for Moooi invites you to overcome gravity with attractive scrolling through collages based on its product range.
Joseph
More full page offer, this time for Josephmark design studio. The site combines rich colors with a bold layout and minimalist typography to create its own identity.
Tony G
We love the unlimited scrolling on the homepage for creative agency Tony G. A slideshow is a great way to add to your homepage without the flaws of slideshows.
Estudio Piedras
This site for furniture design studio Estudio Piedras uses bold letters mixed with product shots. The site is simply punchy and mimics the robustness of the materials used.
An Fleur
The Fleur is a botanical encyclopedia of fictional flowers created by Ondre Jzunka as NFTs on the Ethereum blockchain.
Gloutir
Gloutir is the site for a “subscription-based workhorse design and development studio” that violates all typographic rules, but still works in some way.
Sofia
The site’s rich blue and bright cream for Sophias’s urban bistro and city garden echoes the welcoming interior from the real world and connects the brand together.
Lucalam
Lucalem is the portfolio site of designer and developer Lucas De Melo. Something that is a little more fun than a normal freelance setting, it has a disturbing phallic character.
Soft Power
Soft Power is a creative design studio with an impressive list of international clients. Its site like advertising expertly uses a trendy glitch effect.
Ather
Pastel colors and subtle textures evoke a calming mood, which is ideal for Aather candle body. Presenting a smell visually is challenging, but this site does it well.
